Honda Civic Ferio 2000: A New Trend Amongst Gen Z

 

Honda Civic Ferio 2000 used to be very popular back in its era, around the late 90s to early 2000s. However, its popularity has risen dramatically in recent years. 

Not only from the older people, but also from the younger generation. Gen Z called it "kalcer", a slang term from an abbreviation of "kultur" or "culture," to something considered classy, stylish, or of particular aesthetic value, especially related to popular culture or past trends. So they began to hunt a second-hand Honda Civic Ferio 2000. 

This car is a tangible embodiment of a "classic sedan”. It has a sporty and elegant design. The word “timeless”  is perfect to describe the Honda Civic Ferio.

Aside from that, the Honda Civic Ferio 2000’s price is also affordable. A new car might not be available anymore. But, people still sell the second-hand ones for around Rp45-60 million (US$2,743 - 3,657).

For a relatively cheap car, Honda Civic Ferio 2000’s specification is too good to be true. It has a reliable engine (1.600 cc) that can still bring a powerful performance even though it's considered an old car. 

The car uses two types of transmission, manual and automatic. During the 2000s, there were few cars with automatic transmissions. Remarkably, Civic Ferio can foresee future automotive trends. 

It's also pleasant to use anywhere, whether on an active urban street or in a quiet countryside setting. A good point that's not very common amongst older cars. 

Starting from Honda Civic Ferio Community, Expanding to Wider Society

The Civic Ferio community has been growing lately, to the point that it has become a new trend among Gen Z. 

Its growth is very pronounced in Indonesia, considering the number of the community, for example, Civic Ferio Jakarta, Civic Ferio Org, Civic Ferio Club Indonesia, etc. Most of them are very active in bringing the car enthusiasts together, simply by hanging out, holding events, touring, etc. 

From the community, it expands to wider society. The car brings so much nostalgia, so it feels good to share the feeling with others. 

Jhan David, one of the users of the Honda Civic Ferio, agrees with it. He said that using the car offers him a different experience when driving on the road.

“It's like I became the center of attention, especially by gentlemen who like automobiles. We can be nostalgic together like in the 2000s. It brings self-satisfaction for me, so I want to continue using this car every day,” he said.

Because Civic Ferio is an old car, it's normal that there are a problem or two with it. Jhan David confesses that owning a 2000s car is indeed needed for extra maintenance. 

“Like an elderly human, maintenance for an old car is extra challenging. You have to pay attention to the oil changes, tune-ups, etc. All of them must be done on time, so that the car remains healthy and excellent, especially if you use it daily or during long trips," he added.

He himself doesn’t even hesitate to spend a fantastic budget on car restoration. Jhan David has already spent hundreds of millions of rupiah on it. Mainly to fix on the body parts that have been porous over time. 

“It's satisfying that I am able to return this car to 100% original," he said.

Luckily, the number of spare parts in the market is still abundant. So, it's not too hard to restore the car to its original condition. 

Aside from restoration, the younger generation is also very interested in Honda Civic Ferio modification. The main purpose is to make the car look more modern and trendy. 

That's probably the reason why Gen Z has started to hunt for second-hand Civic Ferio lately. 

Usually, they add accessories such as a sunroof, carpet, CVT cooler, charge pipe, etc, which make this car look more elegant.

So, it's understandable that younger generations are also interested in the Honda Civic Ferio 2000. It brings many memories, but it looks cool and trendy.
